Your League Secretary - Jane Newell
Jane has been a member of Devizes LTC since 2004. She had played some tennis at school and home when younger, but when she joined the Royal Navy at 18 tennis was limited to the odd summer party and holidaytime. Marriage to Army Infanteer Clive in 1986 was followed by 12 home moves in the next 16 years; combined with the arrival of 3 children and a frequently absent husband, tennis was very limited during this time.
Moving to Seend in 2002, a very rusty Jane was invited at a Christmas drinks party to join in some village tennis and was subsequently introduced to Devizes LTC shortly afterwards. Jane has been on the Committee a couple of times, several years as Membership Secretary and more recently as the League Rep. Jane has run a variety of teams, both mixed and ladies, and currently leads Devizes Ladies C.
Outside of tennis Jane worked in HR for many years, but more recently is working for Wiltshire Council in the Registration Team. She has stepped back from office work and is now only doing the Legal Celebrant role for ceremonies. This leaves plenty of time for tennis and her growing family - and holidays!
